This study examines the discourse of sociology in post-revolutionary Iran and analyzes the archeological rules shaping social knowledge. The main research question is how post-revolutionary sociological discourse constructs society as an analytical object within its knowledge system. The theoretical framework is based on Foucault’s archaeology of knowledge, and the research adopts an analytical-critical approach. The study field includes official sociological texts, foundational research, and sociological analyses produced after the revolution. Findings emerge in four stages: first, Iranian society and social issues are constructed as analytical objects rather than direct reflections of social reality; second, the rules of expression determine which narratives of society are legitimate and which are excluded; third, key concepts such as society, nation, and territory become stabilized objects, not neutral analytical tools but components of a coherent knowledge system; and fourth, discursive strategies integrate the object of society into the unity of nation and territory, rendering social gaps, plurality, and marginalized groups invisible. This process reflects the consolidation of a linear, nationalist, and unified intellectual order and highlights the need to reconceptualize society as structurally diverse, dynamic, and marked by social asynchrony and tensions. Rather than revealing society in its full complexity, dominant sociological discourse in Iran has often reduced it to the imagined unity of nation and territory. A critical sociology of society requires making visible the silenced, fragmented, and heterogeneous realities that lie beneath narratives of national cohesion. Reclaiming society as a field of plurality, tension, and uneven temporalities is therefore not only an epistemological task, but also a necessary condition for renewing sociological imagination itself.
